Using a Functional Electrical Stimulation Device to Improve Dropped Foot in People with MS
July 14th, 2010 by admin
Dropped foot is a common problem following multiple sclerosis. In a randomised controlled trial, the authors studied 64 people with unilateral dropped foot who were assigned to either a group using a specific electrical stimulator (Odstock Dropped Foot Stimulator – ODFS) or receiving physiotherapy exercises.

They found that people with multiple sclerosis using the stimulator increased walking performance, compared to the exercise group and also experienced fewer falls.
